VOTERS' AWARENESS UP, OBAMA'S POPULARITY DOWN

A Republican congressman -- one of President Obama's staunchest critics on Capitol Hill -- says he's not surprised that the president's approval ratings recently dipped below the 50-percent mark.

According to a recent Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll (Aug. 18, 2009), President Obama's approval rating has dropped to a new low of 47 percent. The poll appears to reflect the growing discontent over the healthcare reform push on Capitol Hill, as well as the continuing challenge the president faces in trying to turn public opinion. (Another recent Rasmussen poll showed 42 percent favor the Democrats' healthcare plan, while 53 percent oppose it.)

Obama's approval rating (as shown in the graph above) has been dropping steadily in recent weeks. Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) -- who was selected by U.S. News & World Report as one of President Obama's "top five foes" in Congress -- believes many Americans are having second thoughts about the president.

"They may go to the polls and vote something emotionally -- and I think that they had been preconditioned to want to go to the polls and reject President Bush last November," King shares. "Well, President Bush wasn't on the ballot, as John McCain reminded [candidate] Obama on more than one occasion. But the American people are weighing in now and they're starting to see what happens."

Steve King King says Americans see that the country is being transformed in a way that cannot be reversed.

"If we allow 'cap-and-trade' to become law and the National Health Care Act to become law and a comprehensive amnesty bill to become law -- all of those things are transformational," the congressman points out. "I believe they are irreversible. And I think the American people are exactly right to be very concerned."

For that reason, the Iowa Republican believes many members of Congress should be concerned about their jobs next year. Every two years the entire House of Representatives is up for election.

4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.
6.. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7.. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8 Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.
10.. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States ' annual population growth(and over 90% of California , Florida , and New York ) results from immigration. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens .

Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so darn stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Read below................
Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. In other words tax what you have made by investing toward your retirement. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe this.
Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!
This woman is frightening.
She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' (I am not rich, are you?)
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.'
(Read that quote again and again and let it sink in.) 'Lower your retirement, give it to others who have not worked as you have for it'.

HEALTH CARE RHETORIC

President Obama told the American people in his weekend address he wanted to "start dispelling the outlandish rumors" about the Democrats' risky health care experiment.

I couldn't agree more with the President.

There is no place for outlandish rumor or outrageous rhetoric in the debate for the affordable and accessible health care reform we all want.

Below are some facts that will help you counter the dishonest rhetoric Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and liberal special interest groups are disseminating in their attempt to silence dissent:

Rhetoric: President Obama Promises Americans Can Keep Their Current Health Care Coverage. "You know, the interesting thing is we've actually been very clear on what we want. I've said I want to make sure if you have health care you are going to keep it..." (PBS's "The Newshour With Jim Lehrer," 7/20/09)

- FACT: Analysis Shows Over 88 Million People To Lose Current Insurance Under Government Health Care Takeover. "Under current law, there will be about 158.1 million people who are covered under an employer plan as workers, dependents or early retirees in 2011. If the act were fully implemented in that year, about 88.1 million workers would shift from private employer insurance to the public plan." (John Shelis, Vice President, Lewin Group, "Analysis Of The July 15 Draft Of The American Affordable Health Choices Act Of 2009," 7/17/09)

Rhetoric: President Obama Pledges Americans Can Keep Their Doctor. "If you like your plan and you like your doctor, you won't have to do a thing. You keep your plan. - FACT: Mayo Clinic Says Government-Run Health Care Will Force Doctors To Drop Patients. 'We will have to violate our values in order to stay in business and reduce our access to government patients.'" Rhetoric: President Obama Promises No Additional Taxes On Middle Class. "What I've said is, and I have stuck to this point, I don't want to see additional tax burdens on people making $250,000 a year or less." (NBC's "Today Show," 7/21/09)

- FACT: Democrats' Plan Imposes 2.5% Tax On Uninsured Individuals. "The penalty assessed on people who would be subject to the mandate but did not obtain insurance would equal 2.5 percent of the difference between their adjusted gross income (modified to include tax-exempt interest and certain other sources of income) and the tax filing threshold ..." The Republicans want an honest and open debate about how to reform health care, but it is the Democrats who do not want to have a legitimate discussion on the issues. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and their liberal special interest cronies are resorting to calling concerned citizens who have questions about their health care schemes "astroturf," "un-American," and even "political terrorists."

One White House aide went so far to say "if you get hit, we will punch back
twice as hard" when coaching Senate Democrats on the ways of "Chicago land politics."

It's time for the President to practice what he preached on the campaign trail and respect all voices in the health care debate.

Dear Bud,

Sometimes, the truth is…well… almost unbelievable.

You’ve heard TeamObama attack Americans for “manufactured anger.” You’ve seen them tell citizens to send “fishy” emails attacking the health care takeover directly to the White House. You saw Speaker Pelosi vilify hundreds of thousands of us as “un-American” for simply defending our freedoms. And, we’ve all seen the media accuse Americans for Prosperity and others of inciting “mob violence.” (Click here to view some of these attacks including my interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow)

But, believe it or not the radical Left is actually running ads offering to PAY FOR “GRASSROOTS” activists who will support the health care takeover.

Take a look at Craigslist.org—it's full of listings like this one.

What hypocrisy.

Speaker Pelosi and the Obama Administration are attacking Americans who take time away from work and families to stand up for their freedoms.

Meanwhile, their allies are actually offering to pay people to be “grassroots” fronts.

And the big industry players—the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies— are all over TV with ads supporting big-government regulations.

Clearly, they are very well-funded but they are losing on the issues – 53% of Americans now oppose the health care takeover while only 42% support it. Gallup did a poll earlier this year that showed that despite all the hype from the left, global warming ranks dead last among eight environmental concerns. They also cannot inspire Americans to support their agenda. So, they trash average Americans and pay for “grassroots” fronts.

This week President Obama is holding staged town hall meetings before hand-picked audiences across the nation where, sadly, he says things that just are not true. But, Americans are not buying the falsehoods. They know government run health care will not save money. They know bureaucrats deciding whether seniors can get the health care they need is a frightening idea.

So, we can expect the other side to continue trying to demonize you and me. The key for us is to be civil but insistent, appropriate but still passionate.

And, always, we must remember what is at stake.

I hear from so many of you. Pam in Atlanta, GA sent a picture of her 96-years-young grandmother fishing with her 79-year-old mother and told me the story of her grandmother’s hip replacement. She wrote that under government-run health care her grandmother would most likely have been denied that hip replacement “…because of a number, her age.” Pam went on to say that she’s drawn a “line in the sand” on the health care issue because of her loved ones.

Keep up the fight. Make sure you check out the outrageous ads offering to pay “grassroots” workers pushing FOR government-run health care.

The Time to live

Time is an extremely useful tool that we have devised in order to explain and to organize the world around us. But it is only a tool. It does not define us. Our essence transcends the limiting concept of time. (Remember this as you read on - TIME STOPS FOR NOTHING, the past is always the past and the future is always the future.)

If we allow ourselves to be defined by time, then we get bogged down by anger or resentment about the past, anxiety and worry about the future, and the limitations imposed by how "old" or "young" we are.

Now is the only thing we have. In that sense, there really is no such thing as time. The past and the future, while useful concepts, do not currently exist. When we become too dependent upon the past or the future, we deny ourselves the joy of the now. When we ignore the now, it escapes and does not return.

Life must be lived now. You simply cannot be successful by doing things in the future. Plan for the future, yes, but live in the present. And no matter how great your accomplishments have been in the past, it is only by continuing to grow and seek new challenges that you remain full of life.

Treasure the past, welcome the future, and live your life in the precious moment that is now. (Remember this as you go through your day - A moment ago is the past, a moment from now is the future, this moment is yours now - enjoy it.)
